Openoffice conditional formatting using formulas how to#
Thanks so much - this is neat - I will have to learn how to write those macros when I get some time. I don't know how to use VLOOKUP in case anyone is going to suggest that I use that so if you are, I need the actual formula to copy if you don't mind. I attached a copy of of the spreadsheet for reference if it helps (names changed and some data changed that is not pertinent). "Bishop," and the cell that is immediately to the left of it which contains the person's first name (Biddy), with the same color. Let's say I want it to "see," those names in column M (L Name), but I want excel to fill the cell containing that name and the same cell in column N (this would be the first name - I'd want it to fill the last name i.e. I would be very happy with just that answer, but since I am in the forum with all the tech guys, lol, I will piggy-back an additional question onto this. Can anyone help with this? I feel like I am right on top of it but can't get it to work. But what if I want to add a fourth condition for the name Smith.I need a formula to say IF (the value in column M) is equal to "bishop," or "Jones," or "Cash," or "Smith," then.and I would choose Patterns and select the fill color. I can do this twice more with the names Jones, and Cash in the same column by adding additional conditions as outlined above. For example, if I highlight an entire column, then go to conditional formatting and choose Cell Value Is>Equal to> and then I input the name "bishop," and then choose Format>Patterns - and then select a fill color, then for every cell in that column that has the name "bishop," the cell turns the color that I selected. I can't seem to get the formula right to have it do this. I can use it for three names becuase you can have up to three conditions, but.I want to be able to have it do that for more than three names. I have a spreadsheet that I am trying to apply conditional formatting to, to change the cell fill color when a certain name is in that cell. in the next box to the right, insert the value, 99.Hi there! I have a dilemma. Then, in the second drop-down menu, choose ' greater than'.under Condition 1, click the small triangle of the first drop-down.In the window that will appear, you'll insert your condition:.in the Format menu, choose Conditional Formatting. In our example, the colors are to be displayed in cell You have typed your figures, inserted your formulas in the cells, Many other functions, such as, apply a border, change font, alignment, etc.
